It is more difficult and takes longer to take off acrylic nails at home, but it can be done if you have strong nails. It involves soaking the nails in an acetone based polish remover, until the adhesive is dissolved, so that you can very gently push the acrylic off of your nail. You have to be very careful not to put any pressure on the nail though, because you don't want to cause even more damage to the nail matrix. It won't take as long to do it at the salon. They know the exact type of remover that works the best with the product that they apply, and being professionals, they can remove them the most efficiently and with the least damage to your own natural nails. How hard is it to take off acrylic nails at home? is it easier to have them takin off at a salon or at home.?
It can be a serious hassle to take them off at home, can be really messy and take forever. It all depends on how well they were applied and if they are starting to separate on their own. I would highly recommend going to the salon. Its not a lot of money compared to the hassle :)
much easier to have them taken off at the salon cuz then it only takes like 3 - 5 minutes. At home takes a little longer, you can try to peel them off by sliding something thin under the acrylic nail or you can soak them in nail polish remover for 10-15mins and the just try to slide them off your natural nail. But I'd go to the salong.
Well, if you wanna do it at home, just stick your nails in nail polish remover for about 2-3 minutes. Then you can just peel them off.
All they do is soak your nails in acetone nail polish. Your real nails will be ruined from the glue and not breathing for so long. I would do it yourself and save the money. Try a product called Nail Envy by OPI, it works wonders. This will help, but it will take time that's for sure.
I recommend you have them taken off in a salon as they can be a bit tricky to get off and you could end up damaging your own nails but if you must take them off at home soak them in acetone was it makes them soften
I have been a licensed manicurist for 26 years now so here is my advice.

Don't spend the money to have a salon do it. I tell my clients how and they do a great job themselves.

Get a glass bowl large enough for both hands fingertips to fit in at the same time, a towel, and a lamp that can be placed close to your hands while in the bowl(preferably one that can be above the bowl), and pure acetone.

Place the acetone in the bowl but only enough to cover the fingertips not the entire hand. Lay the towel over the bowl and bring the lamp close to, or over the bowl and turn it on. Slip your hands under the towel and into the acetone and relax and watch tv.

The acrylic will begin to melt. Keep your fingers in the bowl because each time you pull them out to ';peek'; it will take a bit longer. As you begin to ';feel'; the acrylic getting soft use the nails of the other hand to scrape away the soft acrylic but do this while your hands are still in the bowl under the acetone. Continue this until you feel that the acrylic is gone.

Have patience though! This can take up to 2 hours to remove all acrylic from your nails.

When you are finished carefully discard the used acetone and wash your hands. The skin will look white and dry. Take your favorite lotion and massage it into your fingertips and cuticle area.

Tah-Dah! No more acrylic and you didn't pay a lot of money for someone else to babysit your nails when you can do it just fine.

Good luck and I hope this helps!!
It is much easier at a salon...it takes quite a long time, depending on where put on, how long ago, etc, at least an hour to get them soaked off and then totally removed...do not try to do at home as you can damage nail even further and cause infection. Go to a repuatble nail salon......
its hard to take then off and either way it hurts there or yourself but i rather hurt myself then anyone else hurting me.. and it takes like an hour...
it is really easy that it what I always do, and it cost a lot less to do it at home! from experience I think it is very easy and only takes like 10 min. to do it at home vs. waiting to get them taken off for like 15 min. then it takes at least another 15 min. to take them off!

hope this helps!
it is in your best interest to keep them on because if you take them off it will mess your nails up.
k well I had acrylic nails twice(done both at the salon) and the 1st time I took them off at home my nails were wrecked and it took a really long time. The 2nd time I got them taken off at the salon and it took around 15 minutes. But of course it will cost money. It costed me 20.00$ to take them off. It depends where you live. I live in Canada.

hope I helped:)
