Is it better to grow your nails or cut it?

It's all up to personal taste. If you like longer nails, grow them, if you don't, cut them.Is it better to grow your nails or cut it?
Neither one is better than the other. It's pretty much like cutting your hair. It's all up to you! Because nails and hair are made with the same process ';Keratinization'; they are a lot alike when it comes to grooming. Cutting isn't harmful to your nails but activities such as smoking can be.Is it better to grow your nails or cut it?
I prefer to have my nails short because it's more comfortable to me. I also think that they look better since they don't gather as much dirt and gross crap in it. And I don't have very many hangnails or broken nails so it's nice. :)
I keep my nails really short. Thats just a personal preference though. Longer nails look ok but there is nothing scarier then those women who have nails like 4 inches long.. yikes.
Long nails gross me out. Just think of the germs and other filth under them. Eeewwwww.
Jak sie masz! My name Borat. Long nails equals much pain when broken! Borat keeps nails very short, is nice!

  • I want to clip my dog nails, how do i go about it,i have a German klein dog?

    Hi Janethec2000.

Trimming your dog鈥檚 nails is not usually considered sharing ';quality time'; with your beloved pet. But when done often enough, with the proper technique, and rewards for your dog鈥檚 good behavior, it should be one of those regular grooming events that your dog will tolerate if not look forward to.

If not done often enough, with proper technique, and reward- training, it can be frightening and even painful for your dog. Please look http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Nails/ - this article are answers to many common dog nail clipping questions as well as tips on proper equipment and technique that will give you the advantage when you approach this simple home dog-grooming necessity.

Jason HomanI want to clip my dog nails, how do i go about it,i have a German klein dog?
Better take it to a professional because if you clip them yourself you can harm the dog. If you clip them too close they may bleed.I want to clip my dog nails, how do i go about it,i have a German klein dog?
1st of all go buy a pair of nail trimmers espically for dogs and they are made by the size of your dog. Then clean the nails if they are dirty so you can see the quick, then just trim but make sure you don't cut above the quick. If you do end up cutting above the quick it will bleed and cause pain, so pack some cornstarch on the end of the nail to stop the bleeding
Go to the pet shop and buy a nail clipper meant for u'r dog's breed or Else take it to the vet.
Its better to get to a vet clinic and do nail clipping , unless u know how to cut without cutting the inner flesh , if so it will bleed and get to infection .
First bring you dog to grooming. Watch and learn. I learn it from there.

There is a new pill out for to help your nails grow what is the name of it?

dont even worry about it, it's a gimmick and doesnt work. There is a new pill out for to help your nails grow what is the name of it?
Just get pregnant - it works all the time!!!

My nails are falling apart in layers. What can I do to stop it?

Moisturise it with nail care oil and when they have stopped flaking, regularly plunge all your nails into raw garlic. This is not scientifically proven but I realised that it worked when I had to peel garlic regularly for my mum and found that the nail on my right thumb became very strong. I could even turn a small loose screw with it!! Also do not use alcohol-based nail polish remover - they are very drying. My nails are falling apart in layers. What can I do to stop it?
use a nail strengthener. sally hansen brand makes several in clear or nude shades you just paint on like a regular nail polish. plus they are cheap and you can get them at any discount or drugstore. My nails are falling apart in layers. What can I do to stop it?
    Strengthening nail polish ;)
Go to ';TRADE SECRETS'; and buy some ';NAIL ENVY'; follow directions and enjoy your nails.
Eat garlic, you can take it raw or in pill forms. There are orderless options as well.

    This S*** really works

Are gel toe nails worth it? and?

are they nice, and how do they do them, is it the same as gel fingernails?

or would i be better off buying glue on toe nailsAre gel toe nails worth it? and?
That is so untrue. Gel toes are not thick when applied properly. And yes, they are worth it. They are the same as UV gel nails - yes. Try them, I bet you'll love them! Are gel toe nails worth it? and?
Gels last longer, but to be honest, as long as you get a good pedicure, i wouldnt bother with any false ones anyway.

The nails are so small, gels will make them look bulky, and glue on shop ones never last very long.

No one is going to look that closely at your feet anyway - save money, get a pedicure, and forget the fake nails!

I chew on nails is it clintons fault?

Nope, it's your own bad habit..........I chew on nails is it clintons fault?
I think it is. I also think that's why 2 of my 3 children suck their thumbs...I chew on nails is it clintons fault?
    no

put the psychosis you have is Clinton's fault because if it were not for him, you would not be obsessing over him

My thumb nails always crack on the sides, even after I cut it down. Why is it doing this?

I am a typist and I use my thumbs a lot, but I don't understand why my nails are so weak on the sides that they keep cracking. Any suggestions???My thumb nails always crack on the sides, even after I cut it down. Why is it doing this?
Allergies or harsh soap; getting the nail too dried out, nutritional deficiencies or a nail file that is not fine enough. My thumb nails always crack on the sides, even after I cut it down. Why is it doing this?
it can be caused by a fungus or a nail bed infection. have it checked out by a dr. :)
Ive been using almond oil on my fingers and thumbs to stop them cracking. It strenghens the nails, also use a nail strenghtner

Mine have grown quite long and I've found its got a lot more difficult to type lol. The false ones are even worse though :(Girls, do you ever find it hard to type with long finger-nails?

    You know it makes sense.
no im fine with long nails, but mine are real so im not sure about false ones, i do sometimes hit the wrong button on my mobile when texting, because my thumb nails are so long. but on my laptop is fine

Clipping bird nails...Is it really required?

I own two cocatiels, one 10 (Omg! It's been that long!?) year old male gray and one 6 year old female gray.

Ok, I've never in my life had my birds nails or wings clipped; yep, I'm all for that born natural, stay natural--unless it can't be helped. They stay in this HUGE cage together with baring and such that are alright for their feet. I don't use that sandpaper stuff on the bottom, just regualr newspaper that they can't reach because of the floor baring, nor do I use sandpapery stuff for their bars.

Alright, I've been staying with a relative for awhile for personal reasons for the past few months and my birds have remained home where I come visit them every week.

    A week ago I came back home and, while playing with the female, noticed that her toenails had grown overly long. I looked at the male's nails and noted that they were the normal size they've always been. She seemed not to notice them or be bothered by them; so I wondered, ';What the heck is up?';

I voiced my puzzlement to a relative who stays with them and this person also seemed to find the female's elongated nails a puzzle.

I left still wondering and debating whether or not to take my bird to the vet to get her nails clipped for the first time...

Here's where the real weirdness comes into:

I came back a week later (today) intent on taking the bird to the vet to find that her nails--other than two that still seem kinda long--were reduced to their normal length.

Question: IS it necessary to clip a bird's nails? And if yes, why doesn't my male ever need his clipped AND why did my female's--other than the two--seem to clip themselves?

I'm just confused about it. Asking a vet may be smart but I just want your insight on the matter--if you have any.

Thanks for reading and hopefully for any useful information.Clipping bird nails...Is it really required?
In the wild birds keep their nails conditioned on natural perches, rocks and other abrasive surfaces. In captivity, if we don't provide those surfaces then yes we do need to groom them (i.e., clip their nails). Sandpaper perches and surfaces only cause irritation and it's good you don't use them. It's also good your birds are fully flighted because they have access to more variable surfaces around their areas (your home) to keep their nails conditioned.

We clip nails monthly around here because we handle our birds daily and even though they're all fully flighted they don't wear their nails down enough to prevent sharp points or growth. It's easy to do your own nail trims with the right tools and you shouldn't need an avian vet to do it for you (but if you're uncomfortable doing it yourself then by all means have the vet do it). I wouldn't recommend anyone but an avian vet to trim beaks though.

As for the abnormal growth rates, I would look at diet and activity first as a cause. Hope this helps.Clipping bird nails...Is it really required?
Yes you do need to clip birds nails but you can buy perches from pet stores that can file your birds nails which is an easyer option.
if you have any wood or cement perches that could have helped. maybe the males favorite perch was the roughest one, and the females was the smoothest? that could have made the females nails grow more. and yes, clippings are needed as soon as it hurts to hold your bird. i agree with the firs answer, it s very easy to get caught in something when your a bird with super long and sharp nails, and it can be uncomfortable when perching. imagine if you never clipped a humans toenails? it would be painful walking around having your toenails scraping everywhere, chipping in stuff, and getting all tangled in stuff like socks, shoes and other clothing. its best for your bird and that's all that matters.
It is necessary for most birds. If you don't clip nails and they need it, the bird could become caught on a perch, a nestbox, a rope fiber, nesting material, or anything else that a long nail could hook itself around. A bird whose nail is caught could end up dangling upside down, and if he/she cannot extricate itself, it could die. Bird could also become injured trying to free themselves. If the injury results in blood loss, it could be fatal. Therefore, nail-trimming should not be put off.

A friend put up my overmantel mirror with 'No More Nails' - will I ever be able to get it off the wall?

It's a big mirror - the 'No More Nails' is globbed on the four triangles of hardboard bracing the corner joints at the back of the frame. If I move flat, will I ever be able to get it off (without destroying the mirror?).

I have the idea I could saw sideways through the gunk, releasing it from the plaster - either that or pulling the mirror away from the hardboard triangles. Any advice please?A friend put up my overmantel mirror with 'No More Nails' - will I ever be able to get it off the wall?
as a carpenter i use grip fill, no more nails all the time, often when trying to rip skirting off that is held by grip fill the wood will often break first that's have strong it can be when left to cure properly, however dont panic, im assuming your walls are painted/papered that means the no more nails has stuck to the paint and not the walls often the paint will just come off when a chisel or scraper is placed where the adhesive meets the wall and give it a little tap with a hammer and i guarantee it will come off with no trouble, do not attempt to cut the adhesive because you will be there for hours, hope this helpsA friend put up my overmantel mirror with 'No More Nails' - will I ever be able to get it off the wall?
If the dried glue is accessible to saw, with something like a hacksaw blade flat against the wall, then definitely saw it. It's too dangerous to pull on or try to force a mirror away from the corner braces, as it will probably break. Having a small repair to make on the plaster (after removing the mirror) is inevitable.
Either the plaster of the hardboard corners will pull off when you try to remove the mirror. These corner cutting ideas are ok until you want to move.......!.
EEEK what a nuts friend... why didnt they just put in some wall plugs and screw it up its really easy...

anyway... id say your best bet to get it off would be to saw it like you say.... very tricky thou at that angle!

Or just leave the mirror for whoever moves in to deal with ehhehe and buy a new one.

If the mirror is stuck to a painted or wall papered wall, then the fixing is only as strong as the paint / wallpaper glue. Not very strong at all. Will pull off very easily if it does not fall off on its own.

as a licensed nail tech im telling you not to ';loosen'; it with anything. by prying an acrylic nail off, youre going to damage your nail. Now many people will probably try to tell you that just having acrylics are bad for your nails..but its not true.

If you want to take the nail off yourself, go to Sally Beauty Supply, buy a small bottle of pure acetone, and soak just that nail in the acetone. make sure not to spill it on anything or get it on any other nails because it will make the acrylic start to break down and weaken.

You definately need to remove the acrylic if it is lifting because any dirt and dust and water that gets in between the acrylic and your natural nail can cause infection/fungus!!!

Just remember not to pick at it or pop it off...this can rip off your free edge ((the white tip of your natural nail)) and can cause infection.

Good luck hun!I've had acrylic nails for 5 1/2 weeks, now the one on my little finger is coming away, but I can't get it off
Do not try to pry it off. If your finger still hurts, then you may have torn some of your natural nail. If you did, or if the nailbed bled at all after catching it on whatever it was you caught it on, then soaking it in acetone would be a big mistake because it would hurt like crazy. In this case, I would suggest wrapping a bandaid around it to prevent the loose acrylic nail from doing any further damage - and to keep it firmly in place so that your nailbed can heal for a couple of days. Once it has had a chance to heal, I suggest going to a salon and having it repaired, or removed. But, don't let any techs force the nail off. This will cause even more damage to your natural nail, and it will hurt pretty badly too. The only way that acrylic should be removed is by soaking it in acetone.

As far as infection goes, you won't have to worry about it if you keep the area clean, and avoid getting water or other liquids under the nail for a few days until it has been either repaired, or removed.

    Good luck!
go to the nail salon theyll take it off.
soak it in 100% acetone nail polish remover. That should take it right off.
soak it in nailpolish remover, that should weaken the acrylic.

  • How do I get my 11 month old puppy to cooperate when trying to cut his nails? He won't let me do it!?

he has never been cut too short so I don't understand. I have had dogs my whole life and have never had this problem. He shows his teeth the moment I get out the clippers and bites at them. How do I get my 11 month old puppy to cooperate when trying to cut his nails? He won't let me do it!?
Hello, Puppies at this age like to try being in charge of their owners. He is trying to make suchba fuss you will stop and this is his reward. It's easier to start cipping the day you get them so they can get used to this, but in this case he needs to allow you to do this. As was said before make sure your clippers are real sharp and you don't pull the nail, Start out doing one or two nails and let him go and give him a treat, something he usually doesn't get and make a big fuss over him. Wait a little while and do a few more until you are done. And yes patience is the main thing you have to gain his trust and also show him You are the boss and even though he may not enjoy the experience he needs to let you do this. Having another person help you may work better at first they can keep him distracted while you clip, if he is really being nasty a soft muzzle may have to be used for a while til he sees it's ok to have his feet touched and still reward him so he will look forward to this in time. Hope this helps..How do I get my 11 month old puppy to cooperate when trying to cut his nails? He won't let me do it!?
Won't ';LET'; you?? Who's the boss here?
Hog tie him J/K. I had a dog that I received from an abusive family hints the reason I ';took'; her. Anyways she never ever got use to it .So I would have to have someone hold her then I would put my Elbow in the side of her neck. ';Not hard'; just where she couldn't get around it to the clipper's. Then I'd cut them fast no need to go slow when it was already bothering her. I also had a dog that I got from birth on and she has never given me any probs. She really likes to be pampered. I just rub her ears while I do it and it makes her where she can't move (because it feels so good)nor hear the clipper's while I cut so try one of these probably the ear thing first but if all else fells just hold him down

make sure when you rub the ear to do it down low by the lobe of the ear. I know this because I am a vet tech we also use the ear thing on cats.
Patience is the key word here. My dog hates having her nails clipped as well (she hates having her feet handled) and it took me a very long time to get her to calmly accept the process. Important note, NEVER use force to hold him down or he'll end up hating it for the rest of his life. Instead, start by doing only one or two nails a day, with lots and LOTS of praise after each one. (make yourself a chart and keep track of which of his nails you've already done)
I don't know if this will solve your problem but, it sure solved mine.I got rid of the clippers and started using a small re-charable rotary dremil tool with,a small sanding drum approx.1/4 in dia.My dog doesn't put up much of a fight anymore.Infact he seems to think it is some sort of toy.
i don't know if this will work, but whenever i want to cut my cat's nails it shows same problem... so i always pet it on my lap until it sleeps then start cutting the nails. all you need is some patience
One easy way to cut a nasty dog's nails is to run his sturdy leash through a chain link fence (around the post) and pull him

up snug against it. You pretty much have to use a choke collar - not to choke him, but to keep him from backing out of the collar. Then, just keep clear of his teeth and trim away. Try to make it as pleasant as possible for him - give him treats, don't cut into the quick, praise him when he's not trying to bite you. We did this with the guard dogs that sometimes stayed at our kennel and no one ever go bit. I prefer not to tranquilize a dog unless absolutely necessary.
Are your sure your clipper is sharp enough.Pulling at that last moment can be hurtful to the dog.Have some one hold his head while clipping, and perhaps you try a treat, once before and after if you need to think of using a mussel, could be a simple string around the snout.WHEN HE SHOWS HIS TEETH, use the command NO,in a commanding voice, you may have to repeat it a couple of times but they get the point.
What worked for me is, I made sure it was quite and rubbed his feet to get used to me touching them, then once he would relax and know I wasn't going to hurt him I would clip 1 nail and reward him for it. Good luck!! Slow process but worked.
have 2 people you and someone else.then well you clip his nails the other person gives him treats!!!! it worked for me

Do you think it is disgusting to cut your nails in public?

I hate when someone does that, seems like a private kind of activity...do you have any others that you detest???Do you think it is disgusting to cut your nails in public?
I was watching this guy stick his hands down his pants to adjust himself in starbucks the other day. it was like he was moving furniture with my wife, he looked like he had found the perfect spot then ooops, hand down the pants again. it was really very charming, made him look almost folksy.Do you think it is disgusting to cut your nails in public?
I also think it is disgusting. There are some nasty germs under our fingernails that those people are spreading around like it's no big deal. And, it's a grooming activity. Animals groom themselves in front of others, humans are more civilized (well, some of them) and should do things like that in the privacy of their own home.
Popping a zit in public probably isn't very good either is it? Didn't think so.

What about pulling ear wax out of your ear and rubbing it on the chair? Nope...not good either eh?

What about when your scab falls off and you not only leave it but lingering blood in a trail behind you? Yeah, I'm sorta thinking that might be too sanitary either.

Just a few things that sorta kinda came to mind.
It's okay. I hate it when people pick their nose and eat their boogers in public, it's just wrong!
No if you need to you need.
Yes, it is disgusting! I work in a doctor's and believe it or not, I've seen several people clipping away at their nails in our lobby! That is gross. This is an activity that should be done at home in your bathroom. I also hate it when people cough and sneeze right in your face and not even offer to cover their mouth. Sometimes, I think people were raised in the wild.
Lighten up. We are all human and make mistakes. Who cares it isn't hurting anyone.
Yes, it is disgusting to cut your nails in public. It is a unhealthy image for others to see. I also don't like seeing people dig in their nose.
Driving down the road and casually looking over and seeing someone diggen for booger nuggets.
omg that is nasty!! also redoing oyur belt or zipping up your pants outside the stall!! gross!!
    Only your toe nails.
Something not genarally accepted in society. I know my dorm mates hate that, just be sure to properly dispose of 'em afterword. Thats the most important and key part right there. Those things will kill ya if they get stuck in a foot. *shudders in discust.
    GROSS
That is sooooooooo disgusting and rude. I hate that.
    YES..hate it

I'll just get straight to it... is there a cheap way to get great nails?

My nails look really blah and all the nail polish i use chip. Also, I can't have my nails too long without getting dirt underneath them. Is there a cheap but effective way to get manicured nails? I can't really go to a salon...1) its 2 expensive and 2) no one would take me. Please help !I'll just get straight to it... is there a cheap way to get great nails?
There are some really great websites on the net that can help you. Just type manicure into Google and take your pick. But my tip for nail polish is paitence, persistence and always do two coats.I'll just get straight to it... is there a cheap way to get great nails?

Do any hot girls out there bite their nails or is it just an unhot girl thing?

Your views and maybe experiences please.

    Thanks,

JamesDo any hot girls out there bite their nails or is it just an unhot girl thing?
    I bite mine....

aaaaaaand I don't wanna brag, but I'm pretty ';hot'; lol.

It's just a nervous habbit I've had since I was little. Really wish I could stop though :/Do any hot girls out there bite their nails or is it just an unhot girl thing?
i dont bite my nails but i dont see why if they are hot or not makes a difference if they bite their nails. i know some girls that bite their nails and they are popular in the manly community so i dont think it has anything to do with being hot or not. also most girls dont bite their nails if they have their nails ';done'; so those girls are usually the ';hot '; girls so that could a be a reason
Just because people bite their nails it doesn't mean they're 'unhot'!

Guess you're just looking in the wrong places to female company! I find that people who look after their nails to a crazy extent are posers/ snobs or just plain wierd!
It's mostly an unhot girl thing haha.

Usually it's people who don't care too much about their appearance.
i agree its maybe ocd,i know girls who do it and i never seperate girls into hot and unhot
    What the hell.

    I bite my nails.

    I hate it.

But that doesn't mean im not hot.

girls do that when they get nervous.. it has nothing to do with hot or not!
i do when i'm crazy stressed. i'm not hot but im not unhot!
hi there i have always bitten mine sorry to say but ime still a hot cookie lol
i kno i do..but then again im not hot! =]
    its an OCD thing!
i don't bit my nails and haven't done since school. How can you tear of your own nail with your teeth...? Ewwwww x
    i kno a couple...

Is it true Olive-oil strengthens your nails? If so, when should I use it?

Gelatin strengthens the nails. So start using Jell-O!!! Soak the nails in this for 15 minutes. Get polish remover with gelatin. Use base coat and top coat with a hardener. Use these twice a week to get better results. Is it true Olive-oil strengthens your nails? If so, when should I use it?
The Egyptians (imagine the legendary Cleopatra), Greeks, Phoenicians, and Romans all took full advantage of this prized oil. Today, we observe the beautiful skin of Mediterranean women. Many claim their secret is the oil of this tiny fruit. Olive oil skin care will:

    鈥romote a smooth, radiant complexion

    鈥elp maintain elasticity of skin

鈥eal dry, brittle nails and soften cuticles

鈥ondition and add shine to hair

Olive oil is high in antioxidants, including vitamin E. Antioxidants are nutritional powerhouses that protect against age-accelerating free radicals. The oil of this miraculous fruit will guard your body and your skin... from the inside out.

    The next time you enjoy a healthy salad, top with a drizzle of olive oil. Balsamic vinegar and olive oil make a delicious vinaigrette that is high in antioxidant, anti-aging protection. Remember to always try to use ';Extra Virgin Olive Oil.';

Is it considered ';Gay'; for a man to get his nails done?

i recently got my nails done, and got a clear finish on them

is it considered gay to do this?

all the other boys and some girls made fun of me for it the whole day today and i just wanted to know if i should take off the polishIs it considered ';Gay'; for a man to get his nails done?
I dont have to tell you, you'll be criticized at whatever thing you do that doesn't quite fit into your peer's lifestyle or appearance.. Depending on your age, I'd say be careful, otherwise you will get ';tagged'; and it could have bad reprecussions... If you're fairly young, and not into the ';lifestyles'; of c/d, t/v s t/g s etc, I'd say try and do this if a time frame when you're not with them, and no it isn't ';gay'; to do what you've done - but others will NEVER listen to that or want to know any different... Good luckIs it considered ';Gay'; for a man to get his nails done?
    No
no as long as you dont have any funky color polish. Alot of guys just use a clear polish ( personally i dont like tha t either ). Instead of nail polish just use the buffers and files that shape them and make it shine naturally.

More metro than gay, i know a guy that wears red polish and critques our nails when they arent done.
no its not they're just dickheads for saying that
Buffing is better, it will shine your nail up. I don't think clear polish is a good look for guys.

I took my bf to get his hands and feet done. I had to drag him the first time, but now I can't keep him away from the place. He gets his nails buffed and no one makes fun of him.

(And I wouln't say ';Gay'; my brother is gay and he would NEVER get his nails done because he thinks its girley';.)
I know quiet a few men that get their nails done. Gay has nothing to do with it. It is a matter of that person wanting to look good.
No way is it gay ...

you are showing signs of being metro sexual which basically means you are high maintenance and look after your body and care about your image

Many men have manicures these days

It is up to you as to keep the polish on remember to do your cuticles though

Also hands can say a lot about a person . .IE well kept nails means a person looks after themselves and cares about their image
no its not gay at all my cousins have done it, but maybe skip the polish next time
    no it's metro
    No absolutely not.

However it is more popular on the East Coast and Midwest. I grew up in Chicago and every single man I knew got a manicure before attending a formal affair. I and most would get two coats of clear nail polish. Today a buff and shine is more common.

In fact most women would probably notice and make a negative comment about a man with unmanicured nails.

    Its called good grooming.

Note: In Chicago in the 1960's the outfit used to hang out at Millers Steak House on the North Side. Every single solitary one of them had manicured nails with clear nail polish. I guarantee you if you called one of them a ';sissy'; you would be on an all liquid diet for the next two months.
Yeah dude take off the polish, I'm not saying that I think it's gay, but I know for sure most people would make fun of some guy who got his nails done.

Anyway, why did you have to get your nails done? I mean, it's really pushing it..
Why when guys show some interest in personal hygiene, it's considered gay? Don't let other peoples close-minded homophobic comments bring you down.

Although, if you like the shine, maybe a nail buffer would be more subtle than clear polish...
No. It is actually nice to be with a man who has a nice manicure. I agree that it is a little metro. But one day you'll just be called a trendsetter.
hehehe yes! and it also shows that you dont do any hard work with your hands!

    pansy
uhh ya r u gay? cuz that would make you gay. pretty much.
No, being interested in and/or performing sexual acts with another person of the same sex is grounds for considering someone gay.

A guy getting his nails done and getting polish on them just makes you a sissy.
its considered gay when men like men. Not when men wear nail polish. it could be considered Feminen of you to wear nail polish. get your words right or you'll offend people
if u arent gay then y would u get ur nails done?

Juno the movie: Fingernails babys have finger nails I don't get it?

On the movie Juno, that girl says ';All babys want to get born'; And they have finger nails but I don't get why she left the place. Please tell meJuno the movie: Fingernails babys have finger nails I don't get it?
i think she left because when the girl said all babys want to get born and that her baby already had fingernails, it kinda made juno think twice about the whole abortion thing.Juno the movie: Fingernails babys have finger nails I don't get it?
Juno walked out of the clinic because she panicked. honestly, the part with the fingernails was just a funny little insert to the story and really had nothing else to do with the movie, other than maybe slightly convince Juno to back out of the abortion.
She just thought that the baby might be just a lump of cells or something without identity. But when she finds out it's something with individual fingers and nails, she has second thoughts about the abortion. Basically she cannot kill a being.

I have loads of these bumps on my arm and when i squish(pop) it with my nails this white stuff comes out?

should i stop popping it? will it become worse if i dont stop coz at times i get bored and i sit there poping them. I want to know what the white stuff that comes out is and what happens if i dont stop popping ThxI have loads of these bumps on my arm and when i squish(pop) it with my nails this white stuff comes out?
The skin condition is likely: keratosis pilaris.

50-85% of adolescents have this condition.

The 'white stuff' is called 'pus'. It is made up of dead white blood cells that are trapped in the hair follicle. Stop popping them or they will *permanently* scar.

Here's how to reduce your symptoms and often get rid of it...

Weekly: soak in a tub of warm/hot water with 2 cups of powdered oats and 1/2 cup olive oil, sunflower oil or coconut oil. Use a loofa or a sea sponge to exfoliate the affected areas. Drain the tub and clean the tub with baking soda to get the oil off without chemicals that can cause further irritation. Shower and use handfuls of baking soda to remove the excess oil from your skin and even further exfoliate the bumpy areas. Use soap only on your privates. Apply more coconut, sunflower or olive oil to your skin after your shower - just a thin coating.

*Don't* use chemicals such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or glycolic acid. These chemical exfoliants DRAMATICALLY increase your riks of skin cancer. Salicylic acid also has the added kick of increasing your risk of Reye's Syndrome - a lethal liver and brain disorder, as it is dermally absorbed and affects your body similar aspirin. If you are aspirin sensitive, here are some other side effects from using a freakin' body wash containing salicylic acid:

    ';Some of the indications of aspirin sensitivity include: itchy and watery eyes, itchy rashes, nasal congestion, hives, worsening asthma, rashes around the mouth, cough and wheezing, and anaphylaxis 鈥?a severe, potentially fatal reaction including hives, difficulty breathing and a drop in blood pressure; fortunately rare in aspirin sensitivity.';

Hm. Risk death for a few pimples. I doubt you want that risk...I have loads of these bumps on my arm and when i squish(pop) it with my nails this white stuff comes out?
    dont pop
i have those too, stop popping them!!

    they leave scars

try putting more lotion on, they wont go away. but they will b smaller and less noticable.
thats body acne, or it sounds like it. Nuetrogena has stuff that treats that, im sure there are other companies too, treat them like acne.
    like baby pimples and zits?

i get those and pop them too

    maybe b/c im dry?
ok, if they are reddish, then they are these like puss filled things, pop them, and then squeeze it to make all the puss come out, you will know when to stop because it will be a little spot of blood, it's nothing to worry about though
    sounds like acne
hah, i thought i was alone!

    these are just a type of pimple. you can get them on your arms, legs, back and torso even. its totally normal, so dont get worried;;

the white stuff is just the same kind of stuff that comes out of regular zits (like on your face)

i can totally relate to the not stopping because of boredom//knowing they're there and it annoys you

    how to get rid of them;;

i dont know how old you are, but depending on either -

diet: french fries are definately not going to make them go away. from my own experience, eating raw (like, regular, not in sauce or juice) apples helps the skin clear

skincare: just wash your arm really well (it'll turn red and pink, stop when it hurts though!) - getting rid of dead skin will help them stop appearing. and at stores, you can buy some acne care stuff (like $5 - AcneFree Terminator 10 or Clean and Clear - both come in tubes) and if you put either on the spots, they go away.

bottom line: they're just regular zits. they'll go away eventually, but they're pesky if you dont wear things with long sleaves in the summer
It sounds like ingrown hairs causing little pimples on your skin. The white stuff coming out is pus. You should stop popping them and use a cleanser with benzoyl peroxide (the active ingredient in certain acne cleansers) on your arms.

Benzoyl peroxide exfoliates the skin and kills the bacteria to prevent acne.

As for what happens if you don't stop popping.... nothing terrible, really. It's the same rules as for popping pimples on your face... it's a bad idea because it can cause scarring and it spreads the bacteria, making the problem worse. If you do pop, clean the area with rubbing alcohol afterwards. It should sting.
    DA WHITE STUFF IS PUSS

    Are acrylic nails worth it?

I really like wearing fake nails, a friend suggested that i get semi-permanent acrylic nails, but then another friend told me that her nail got really badly infected after getting her's done. What would be the risks and is it worth getting them done? Do they fall off or bend?...Are acrylic nails worth it?
Hello, I have worn nails for about 6 years now, I am also a nail tech and used to work at ANT, If your friends nails got infected it would have been a fault of the nail techs not the acrylic. I have had acrylic, gel and fiberglass, and I prefer gel, it tends to be more flexable than acrylic whilst still strong, some techs put arylic on too thickly too, gel tends to be thin but strong. Why not go to The Nail Geek (google search it) I think its www.thenailgeek.com it is where all the nail techs go, top nail techs too, all the girls and guys from Creative, from the Sweets to Leighton Denny, Rachel from K-Sa-Ra etc. Ask them any questions and they will also be able to recomend a GOOD nail tech in your area. I am in France now so am out of the scene a little.

I must admit that wearing false nails gives me more confidence, my own nails grow fine, but they never look as nice, and the varnish etc lasts longer on falsies.

Good luckAre acrylic nails worth it?
Acrylic nails are a gel put on over the top of your natual nails or if you havent got very long ones they add tips as well, which will grow out over time.

they only get infected if you dont keep them clean (underneath ur real nail and around the acrylic one) also they are actually not that good for your nails i had them done for my wedding and even tho they looked great and lasted 2 weeks or so. they start to discolour (obv cuz of different things you handle) and they are expensive to have replaced/refilled if you want to maintain them and keep them for a longer time. they warped my nails and put grooved in them, they dont fall off they are basically a acrylic/sillica thats hardened onto the nail and then they are like a really really hard nail varinish, and when start to grow out they are like nail varnish you have the bit at the bottom of your nail that is by the cuticle that has no acrylic on them and is your natural nail so you have quite a groove because the nails are layers and layers of the silica/acrylic i wouldnt reccommend them for what they do to your nail - but its like all false nails that. however for looks they are great, its just keeping them looking great that costs a bit? but thats like anything too.

id try them to see what you think after all you might really like them and want to keep them?
No, no, no! They look great and I loved them when I had them but not only are they expensive to have put on initially but the maintainence fees are large too (I had to have mine filled every 3 weeks or so).

When I took them off - sheesh! My real nails were so thin that I could see through them and it took months and months for them to become healthy again.

Grow your own - buff them, use strenghtening polish and cuticle oil.
I have worn acrylic nails for years. They are marvellous. I only ever had one infection and that was because I used a dodgey woman who did them at home. Hygiene is of the utmost importance and all salons will have been checked out. They can't afford to have bad publicity. What I usually do is get their trainee to do them and that costs around 拢15.00 for the whole set. If you want the ';top'; staff it'll cost about 拢30 or 拢32. They never bend or fall off. What happens is that after about a month you need to have an infill where there is a gap between nail and cuticle. The salon will fill this and file down the length. Go for it, you will love them. You could always have a go yourself, but I can't do it I'm no good working with my left hand!
    no, they don't feel nice
why? why not just wait for your own 2 grow
Don't do it! I had them a few times and whilst they looked fantastic my nail bed was quite badly damaged and even now, 5 years later, my nails are ridgy and mis-shapen. I don't think they are worth the bother.
They are really expensive to keep up (you have to have them filled every other week). Around $30 first time then $20 every fill-they also damage your real nails and can start all kinds of fungus on your real nails. When they ';pop'; after you hit them on something then you will be ready to rip them all off! It's just not worth the time, money, or damage!
I had acrylic nails for a few years and really liked them. My nails just don't grow well and break into the nail bed -- so I often get infections from my natural nails breaking! Right now, I want to go back to fake nails -- and have heard gels are better -- but I don't have the money. I found the problem with fake nails is that they were expensive (about $60 a month to maintain) and time consuming (about 90 minutes every two weeks). However, if I had the time and money, I'd do them! I have even had artificial nails break off and lost a natural nail (like another posting said, it was horribly painful, but it did grow back )-- but my nails really are bad and very embarrassing.
No-your nails will get thinner and thinner then you will get a green/black fungus and the nail may even fall off.Dont do it!!!
They look really nice and I did it for a few years straight. They're just too much hassle so I stopped getting it done and I probably won't do it again. Just make sure to get pink and white. They look the best and get them rather short and square. They look tacky long.
Yes, I think they are. They are fairly pricey and need infills every 3 weeks. On the plus side, you can use very cheap quality nail polish and it wont chip and lasts for up to a week before you need to repaint. So you will save on time and money. I had acrylics on and off for years and never had any problem with infection. Note everybodys comments about the after effect though. Your own nails will be paper thin and soggy underneath, probably needing 3-6 months to regrow properly. good luck
Get gel nails. They are a few dollars more(maybe like 10) but they look more natural and are by far more durable. They are definitely worth it. I have mine done at least once a week and have never had any trouble.
ive heared the gel nails are better as they are more flexible. whatever nails you get they are going to be high maintainance
I used to wear acrylic nails all the time... until one night I was working at home and I was closing my desk drawer and my thumb nail hit the desk just right and it ripped my entire natural nail off, all the way down to the cuticle. It was the most painful experience of my life. I had to go to the doctor the next day to have it completely removed since it was still attached on one side. By that time my entire thumb was swollen and the doctor gave me a tetanus shot as a precaution. It took about 8 months for my nail to grow back completely. I haven't had acrylic nails since.
    no, they look naff...
no way. don't get acrylic ones. you could get infections. just try to grow your own nails, so much more natural that way. real ones look better too

Guys, do you like it when a woman's finger nails/toe nails are painted?

If yes, why? and what color do you like?

or do you prefer natural unpainted nails?

:pGuys, do you like it when a woman's finger nails/toe nails are painted?
To me, Ilike them painted or with a french manicure. It gives the girl a finished touch and looks sexier. To not pay attention to your nails would be like a guy washing and waxing his car but leaving the wheels untouched. It shows that you care about yourself and you want to do your best to look good.Guys, do you like it when a woman's finger nails/toe nails are painted?
I know my boyfriend does, but he cant stand fake nails.

he loves my fingernails in navy, black, clear or dark purple.

%26amp;my toe nails can match the colour or be clear.

    I suppose he is fussy!

';If your not going to paint them, at least cut and look after them'; he says. haha

    Paige O-NC x
No don't care for it. I like my girlfriends nails when they are unpainted. Actually a turnoff for me. I think I somehow I associate painted nails with high maintenance. I hate high maintenence ppl in general.
    That's an excellent question!

I was so intrigued, I asked my brother and he said he preffered girls with french manicures over the painted stuff.

    Kudos for asking it!

I would have never thought of that question.
I like them unpainted, french manicure's good looking though. Just as long as the nails are long, back scratching feels great.
Not a guy. But they don't really look at the finder/ toe nail paint. My boyfriend never seems to notice.
    French Manicure ;)
    good question!
honestly as a guy i don't care. only women care about that

I want to get gel or acrylic nails and do them myself. How do you do It? which one is better?

Is It safe? what do I have to buy?I want to get gel or acrylic nails and do them myself. How do you do It? which one is better?
I am going to advise you not to do this...

it may seem like a good idea..

    but it's not

I studied cosmetology for three years

and nail care/acrylic nails for a few months of my second year and most of my third year....

I now have my license to work in a salon

and ive even been to competion for doing acrylics..

    however...for a beginner

    acrylics can be veryy tough...

I didn't even get the hang of them until practicing

    for about 3 weeks..

and even then i wasnt perfect

it's a lot harder than it looks..

if you dont apply correctly or if you make your solution too water or too lumpy it can be a BIG mess..

and if you get acrylic on your skin

its gonna hurt tryna get it off...

unless you soak it in acetone..

and none of the stuff that you can buy at a regular beauty supply store is really that great anyway..

and if you dont know what your doing it can be unsafe..I want to get gel or acrylic nails and do them myself. How do you do It? which one is better?
I don't really think its safe at all if you do it yourself. You aren't trained to do so. But if you must...it would be easier to do acrylic on your own.
Of course its safe, but if its done improperly, you can develop fungus under your nails. i'd get them done professionally.

  • I bite my nails and when they are really short it kind of smells bad at the point of my finger. Isthis normal?

ugh .. i just threw up in my mouth a little ...I bite my nails and when they are really short it kind of smells bad at the point of my finger. Isthis normal?
Your hands/nail should not smell - it is not normal. You need to wash your hands with warm water and antibacterial soap. Make sure to use a nail brush, so you can really scrub underneath your fingernails. Please stop biting nails. It is not healthy you can get really sick. A bacteria called Staph. can reside under your nails and if you ingest it, it can really do some damage to your body.I bite my nails and when they are really short it kind of smells bad at the point of my finger. Isthis normal?
When nails are too short, they can act like a sponge for bacteria, your nail beds will be exposed and can subsequently get infected. It might sound corny but that nail product that tastes disgusting when you try and bite really works, as it protects the area, stops infection and then stops you biting, give that a try. Also, your nail beds will also draw in odours from cooking, so try and keep your fingers away from strong smelling foodstuffs until your nails recover and grow.
Try washing your hands after you have had your fingers up your back blower.
This is not normal. The smell is caused by a fungus very closely related to athelete's foot. Go to the drug store and consult a pharmacist.
no, you need to wash your hands a lot more frequently than you obviously do.
    YUCK

Best try to stop it now, a mate of mine had to take her son to the Dr's as he got worms from biting his nails! if that doesn't give u a reason to stop nothing will!
i don't think so. get some antibacterial stuff

How do i clip my budgies toe nails withot injuring it?

DO NOT use Sandpaper or cement perches! they are not safe for birds. The bottom of birds feet are soft and tender, sitting on those kind of perches will cause sores on the birds feet.

If you have never trimmed your birds nails before then I would recommend you find an Avian Vet or even a Breeder, have them show you how to trim the nails. I do Bird grooming for my Clients and very rarley do I have to use clippers, we use a nail file to just round off the sharp tips. By filing it reduces the risks of hitting the quick of the nail. And it only takes a few seconds to file each nail.

You dont..you buy a perch made from sand glued to the wood. your bird will use it..and sand his own nails down in the process..How do i clip my budgies toe nails withot injuring it?
Hi I hope your bird is very tame otherwise this will hurt YOU if you are right handed take your bird in your left hand with index finger and heart finger either side of his/her head to reduce the mobility of his/her head ie. beak from biting you. A pair of nail clippers is all you need to clip the nail but don't cut too high as it will bleed. My macaw is tame I can simply lift his legs and trim his nails, you know your bird best, good luck.
Wrap the bird in a towel, being very carefull not to hurt it- it also helps if you can get a friend who can be a ';bad guy'; to do it also so the bird will still be friends with you.

Carefully- and I do mean ';Damn'd carefull'; use a very sharp set of finger nail clippers.

Look carefully at the nail- you can see the blood inside of each toenail. Cut UP TO that point- if you cut beyond it its called cutting the blood groove ok?

OK, You cut the blood groove, the birds pissed, bloods flying everywhere, you're scared, so you take a stepic pencil and you ALREADY HAD IT WET so when this happens all you need to do is touch the toenail. RIGHT?

Sometimes, its better just to pay the 12 bucks and have the pet shop do it.
instead of clipping, put a rough stone in your budgies cage, this will help to keep them trim, either that or take it to your local pet shop.
It is a good idea to have your veterinarian trim the nails,(once shown, you can do it yourself) although it is possible to do at home. You can see how far the blood extends in light-coloured nails, so you can clip the nail beyond the pink part or 鈥榪uick鈥? Since it is impossible to see where the blood supply ends in dark-coloured nails, you need to have a clotting agent on hand in case of bleeding, or have your vet trim them for you. Clip a small amount at a time to minimise the chance of bleeding. Nail trimmers and clotting agents can be obtained from pet shops or your veterinarian. Providing natural twigs and branches of differing abrasiveness and shape help to wear the nails. Do not use sandpaper on the perches as this is ineffective for wearing down nails, and encourages sores on the bottoms of the feet.
Just go to pet groomer. If you do decide to do it yourself, watch out for the pink in their nails. That is their SKIN.
I'd personally take it to the vet. I would not want to risk it!
The answer given by ';Larry_the_orc'; is very complete. As for the sand paper perch covers, don't put a whole one on. Their little feet need a chance to be without the rough surface too.
Most people take them to an avearian vet, I personaly do it myself I use small dog clippers or baby clippers, I just clip the tips. A perch with sand paper will help keep them dulled down also. Good Luck
The easiest way is to cover the perches in the cage with sandpaper. Then remove it after about 10 days. The birds will tear at the sandpaper and even eat it, but it will do them no harm.

Hi. If you are worried about the ridges in your nails, and worried about wasting doctors time, you could first ask a local pharmacist or call NHS direct. If you are still concerned make an appointment to see the doc, even if it's just for reassurance that nothing is wrong which will take 1 minute, or sort out an underlying problem which may be the cause of the ridges. It is usually nicer to let them deal with one problem at a time especially as they usually have 10 minute slots allocated for each appointment. Consider the possibility that if you do save up problems and you need medication for more than one thing you might not like to take too many drugs at one time or it may be unsafe to do so! If you really would prefer to save things up then you may be able to ask the receptionist to book you a double appointment.
Ridges on nails often indicate there is some form of nutrictional deficiency. It is not 'natural'. It could be iron deficiency or it might be an early indication of a kidney problem. I ignored symptoms like that for months because I didn't want to bother my doctor and those symptoms eventually became something very serious that I could have died from. Three months off sick has made me sure that I will go to the doctors and ask his opinion if there is any form of change in my body that I am unsure about. However, my first port of call is usually the pharmacist who now has authority to give a limited amount of prescription drugs to patients if they obtain a form from their doctor.

Good luck and don't worry - you probably have a bad diet. Watch Gillian McKeith!!!!! Increase your natural ingredients!!!!!
Ridges on your nails are often caused by a fungal infection - before you go to the doctor, try getting an anti-fungal cream from the chemist and rubbing it into your nailbed for a few days.
If your worried why not phone and ask for the doctor to call you back when they are free? Ridges are nothing to worry about - that comes with age!
Yes it is worth it, changes to your nails can be an indication of things going wrong in your body, so I would definitely ask the doc for a check up.
Ridges on nails are perfectly normal, sometimes the result of stress, so stop worrying about them and start enjoying life.
no, the ridges are natural. some people have them and some people dont
I would go to doctor. This is a sign of poor oxygen circulation. If you are diabetic this can be very important to know, as other problems can result. Go to the doctor, and find out for sure. You have one life, take care of you, that's what doctors are for.
Ridges on the nails mean you are deficient in something, its not deadly important most people have these - just ask your doctor on your next appt
No don't go to the doctor about ridges on your nails.

But I think you knew that, didn't you?
Its wrong if we ever feel that we cud be wasting a doctor's time. If ur worried about something, MAKE the time for an appointment.
Ridging can be a symptom of liver disease. If you have any other symptoms like fatigue, nausea, ask yr. doctor if you can have a liver function test. Try and get them to suggest it if you can, GP's can be touchy if they think you might have been THINKING and not just trusting their godlike powers.
listen to jean m she knows what she is talking about.ridges can mean heart/kidney and liver probs.go for a medical it could save your life

    Are acrylic nails worth it?

I want to get the kind you can buy at let's say Sally's... but are they worth it? Will they end up ruining my nails? Are acrylic nails worth it?
I just took my acrylics off yesterday coz there was fungas under them! :/

I had them on for about a week, and they didn't ruin my natural nail. But it was only a week, so idk %26amp; that was the first time I had acrylic. Usually I get gel..

Anywayy, if you really want them, buy them. Although, if you're like, really really worried about them ruining your natural nail, go to a nail salon %26amp; get gels. They're more expensive, I think but it's way better quality. Except you have to go to get infills every few weeks. Are acrylic nails worth it?
I say no, but I got mine done at a salon, and im sure they messed up because they really hurt my hands, and it took a long while for me to be able to naturally grow my nails long again without them cracking and chipping.
No they are not worth it. They do not even last to long. If u really want to get ur nails done the right way go so a shop and get a full set they look better and last much longer.
They're very hard on the natural nails. My natural nails are already weak and don't grow too long so I do mind getting the acrylic. I've been getting them for 6 years now. Good Luck!
I hate fake nails! I hate them on myself and on others! They always tear up your nails when you take 'em off and then they look nasty! It's SO NOT WORTH IT.
in my opnion they are not worth it. my friend had her nails done over a number of time and now her nails are ruin.

How long does it take for the finger nails to grow in a month? ?

About a month. How long does it take for the finger nails to grow in a month? ?
depends on how much protein you eat..

the more protein you consume, the quicker your nails and hair grow.

Is it worth going to the doctor's just to ask about ridges on my nails?

Or should i wait unti I have other things to ask about and save them all for the appoinment so that I don't appear to be wasting the doctor's time?Is it worth going to the doctor's just to ask about ridges on my nails?
Don't you think doctors should treat people that are genuinely ill and not have their time wasted by silly little things like that,or perhaps your really sick worrying about stupid things and need to see a doctor! Is it worth going to the doctor's just to ask about ridges on my nails?
Not sure who voted for this as best answer, but anyone with some sense will know from all the answers that this is actually one the worst answers.
